DAY: Sunday June 13thSTAGE: Harmony Main Stage American recording artist, musician, producer and actress, Ms. Hill established her reputation in the hip-hop world as the lone female member of The Fugees. She sang at Harlem's Apollo Theater at age thirteen and soon after met Prakazrel ‘Pras’ Michel and his cousin, Wyclef Jean, and the three formed The Fugees. In 1996 the group released their second album, which Ms. Hill co-wrote and co-produced. The Score sold over 18 million copies, making The Fugees the biggest-selling rap group of all time and winning them two Grammy Awards (Best Rap Album and Best R&B Performance by a duo or group). A few years later, Ms. Hill launched her solo career and released the commercially successful and critically acclaimed platinum-selling album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and became the first woman or hip-hop artist to win five Grammy Awards when she received Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Performance, Best R&B Song ("Doo Wop/That Thing") and Best R&B Album In January 2010, Ms. Hill returned to the live stage in a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand on the Raggamuffin Music Festival roster, which also included her former Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean plus Julian Marley, Steel Pulse and other noted performers from the worlds of hip-hop, funk, dub, soul and reggae. In 2010 she will be honored by NPR as one of “50 Great Voices” in its weekly, year-long series heard on Morning Edition and All Things Considered, which focuses on iconic vocalists selected from more than 100,000 listener submissions via their web site. Harmony Festival is pleased to feature Ms. Lauryn Hill on its 2010 roster. She will be making her only confirmed festival appearance of the summer and her first ever performance in the North Bay at this year's festival!
